How to get photo effects on snapchat? UPDATED

I just recently found out that you can get effects on snapchat and I can't seem to figure it out. I know how to get black and white but are there any other cool effects that anyone can share with me?

          • with the new update of snapchat, you can have 3 different effects, but noope i helped!t the sepia or the negative. there is a black and white, a browny effect, and a purplish effect. you go on your snap chat and on the screen where you view snaps that people ent to you, you click settings>manage>additional services, and turn all of them on. then when you take a pcture you just slide to the left and you an get the effects, the time, the weather, and this mph thing. hope I helped!

      • you dont need to type anything in on the iphone(dont know about android) just put your finger on the right side of your screen after taking the picture and swipe to the left…but first make sure to go into settings > additional services > manage and turn them all on!!!

    • You have to write “Negative…” or “B&w…” with the dots with your keyboard. After written it you can delete the text and write something new, like you usually do. so remember the dots. You have to write it exactly like that without the “”.

  2. To get effects to your pictures on Snapchat:

    1. Take a picture
    2. Write “B&w…” on the pic to get it in black and white,
Write “Negative…” on the pic to get it in negative,
Write “Sepia…” on the pic to get it in Seipa!
    4. When you have written one of the codes, the pic will get the effect immediately.
Then you can take the code away, and write someting you want your friends to
    see!

  3. B&w…
    Negative…
    Sepia…
all work for me, and you can combine effects to make effects such as negative black and white, it’s cool!

  4. the reason that Serpia and Negative dont wort to you is that you need to start with an big letter. “Serpia…” not “serpia…”
    i hope that helped :)

  5. you type in
    B&w…
    Negative…
you can then delete your text and the effect will stay
    you can also type in
    Negative…
then delete it and then type in
    B&w…
then it will create a combined affect. Just make sure you capitalize the first letter and the Sepia… doesnt work thats not a real effect for snapchat

  8. THERE IS NOTHING NAMED SERPIA IN THIS WORLD, IT IS SEPIA GOD DAMNIT!!!!!!

the stuff that is supposed to work is:
    Negative…
    Sepia…
    B&w…

    and that’s it

    • I have an iphone and they all work fine
Ok so make sure your snapchat is updated to begin with
then take your pic, once that is done, you type in either
      B&w…
      Sepia…
      negative…
      into the typing bar
doing this should change the filter to your photo, if that doesnt work, then try deleting the app and re downloading it, sometimes the extras dont get downloaded. I hope this works
and if u need any more help snapchat me at shan-xox would be happy to help xx

  10. Tutorial for Iphones:
    1. Take a picture in Snapchat.
    2. Press anywhere on the picture and a box comes up, wich YOU can write in, and text:
“B&w…” (for Black and white picture)
    or
    “Negative…” (for Negative)
BE SURE TO TEXT IT EXACTLY AS I WROTE IT (YES WITH THE 3 DOTS AS WELL!
    3. You can now see that the picture has changed color.
    4. And you can now delete the text and write what ever you want..

    Hope this helps..

    (“SEPIA…” DOES’NT WORK ON IPHONE)

    • It does work for iPhones just fine. I don’t understand where you’re getting that information. I have the 4S, and all three of these effects work perfectly on my phone. I wish you all would stop saying sepia doesn’t work on iPhones. I realize that some people haven’t updated their phones in a long time, and that may have something to do with it, but it’s working on all the iPhones I’m connected to. All of my family and friends can use all of these effects, and they have iPhones.

If you have an iPhone and can’t use sepia, try updating your phone or the app. Something hasn’t updated, that’s all. Oh, and spelling “sepia” correctly helps. If you put an “R” in there, it won’t work because you’re not spelling it correctly. Sepia. No “R”s allowed here.

  13. TO DRAW IN BLACK OR IN WHITE
if you want to draw with black color, just place your finger on the color bar thingy and roll it down to the very bottom of your screen
to draw with white color, place your finger on the color thingy and roll your finger in <– that way, to the end of your screen. that should work..
at least this works on android devices :)

  14. you can get pretty much whatever colour you want, to get black drag your finger down the colour bar to the right hand bottom corner of your sceen. to get white drag your fingewr up the colour bar and to the top left corner of your screen. to get lighter shades of a colour drag your finger from the colour bar to the left :)

    Reply
  15. To get black you need to hold the colour chart and scroll down towards the red but keep going off the couloir chart – still keeping the finger in contact with the phone – and go down to the bottom of the phone screen. Same for white however to the side x

  23. For any type of photo filter, tap anywhere on your picture and your keyboard will pop up. Write ‘Negative…’ For a negative photo filter, Write ‘B&w…’ For a black and white photo filter, and for Android devices only, write ‘Sepia…’ For a sepia photo filter. (Note: YES, you DO add the three full stops, and YES, you DO use uppercase lettering for the first letter like I did. NO, you DO NOT use the apostrophes like I did.)

  25. Alright, so:
Step 1: you take a picture of yourself
Step 2: you tap the screen with your finger and a black line text comes up
Step 3: in that box type ‘B&w…’ or ‘Negative…’ (sepia isn’t on apple devices) type those as exactly as I have said it
Step 4: it should have changed colour and now you backspace ‘B&w…’ or ‘Negative…’ and then type what ever you want and press send :) enjoy <3 xox

    YOU can mix filters
SEPIA DOES NOT HAVE AN “F” IN IT
Here are the 3 filters I know-

    •1• B&W
    •2• Sepia
    •3• Negative

And also, you can ONLY change fonts on androids. Thanks have a nice day!

If u know how to add text on snapchat ur good. (If not well.. Just double tap screen and a black line for writing will appear) so just type in:
B&w… This gives u a black and white effect
    Negative… This gives u a negative effect
Sepia… This is close to a black and white effect but with a little colour.
Now with sepia it may not work for because apparently it’s only for android but whatever, it works on the iPod
I REALLY HOPED THIS HELPED UR TROBLES!!

Negative… It turns dark on light colors and light on dark colors.
Sepia… Turns it to a light brownish red color

For white marker you click your color bar and drag it to the corner by the X
For black marker you click the color bar and drag your finger to the corner by the send button.

    Hope my advice helps!:)

Draw with Black: Keep dragging down to the bottom of the screen when you’re choosing a color, it will go to black.(Notice there is no color pallet over there, it will still go black.)
Draw with White: While selecting a color, keep your finger on red and then drag to the left.(Still, no color pallet.)

You want to type in ‘B&w…’ , you want the capital B, The & sign, and the w lowercase, followed by three dots. You dont put ‘ though, there is also no spacing. so it would look like this…

    B&w…

    Thats it!:)

  96. I have the latest updated version of snapchat and my phone is an iPhone 4 but none of those filters are working for me. My phone is not the latest update. Could this be why it’s not working?

  98. go on to snap chat and go on setting, go down to the bottom and you will see something that says manage and it comes under additional setting. click that and turn visual filters on and your down. to get the effects you take the photo and then swipe left and theres a few effects their. ou don’t have to type anything in to make it work. 101. To everyone wondering about how to get the effects on snapchat you have to go on settings on the main snapchat page, you find additional and click manage and then you turn on visual filters. Then when you take a photo swipe left and you get three different affects :)

  104. If you join Snapchat beta (it’s really easy: just Google it) u can use all kinds of filters using hashtags like #radioactive or #bulge or #skew. Only works in beta.

    #radioactive
Exactly how it appears above, I get a sort of negative effect with a red tint and harsher tones. I discovered it by accident and I’m pretty sure it’s different from just putting negative…
